SlowCookerClub was started in 2009 by David Stephens after buying a slow cooker and not being able to find any comprehensive slow cooking recipe websites. The name was a random brainwave from a morning shower - the best place for new ideas!
We're not professional chefs, so you can be sure that the recipes on our site are easy to prepare by an amateur cook. We're not into gourmet slow cooking - we think slow cooking should be fun and enjoyed by everyone, and that's before it gets to the eating part!
Do you have a favourite slow cooker recipe that you think we should feature? Then let us know - we love submissions from our members, and we'll probably end up cooking them ourselves too! The best recipes will be featured on our social media pages.
The SlowCookerClub was originally knocked up in an afternoon using Joomla. It became apparent after a few years that we'd outgrown the software, and it's limited flexibility was hindering our plans for growth. In 2013 David rewrote the site from scratch using Ruby on Rails, which allows us to develop the site how we see fit. Exciting stuff!
As we look back over SlowCookerClub's history, it makes us laugh seeing how we used to look! If you're interested, here's version 1 which came online on the 21st March 2009 (complete with a misspelling of "recipe"). In February 2011, we re-desgined and knocked up version 2. In Winter 2013 we rewrote from scratch (dropping Joomla in favour of a custom built site in Ruby on Rails, and our current version, version 3 was born!
