Slow Cooker Orange Glazed Meatballs

A little bit sweet, a little bit spicy, and a whole lot of awesome, these Slow Cooked Orange Meatballs will have everyone fighting over getting to the slow cooker first!

Serves 8

Prep Time 30 minutes
Cooking Time about 4 hours on low


  • 400g minced beef
  • 1 egg
  • 4 small onions, one finely chopped, three chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp salt for meatballs
  • Good crack of freshly ground black pepper
  • 350ml Orange Marmalade
  • 1 small jalapeno chilli, chopped
  • 60ml orange juice
  • 60ml beef stock
  • 3 onions, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper


  1. Start by making your meatballs - in a bowl mix the beef, egg, one finely chopped onion, garlic, 1 tsp salt and a good crack of freshly ground pepper. If you want to check your seasoning, pick off a small chunk and fry it until cooked. Wet your hands, then roll the mix into 3cm balls.
  2. In the slow cooker, mix together the marmalade, orange juice, jalapeno chilli, onion, beef stock, 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Stir well until combined.
  3. Seal the meatballs in a hot frying pan, then add the meatballs to the slow cooker and ensure that all of them are covered with the orange mix. Cook on low for at least 4 hours.

    I cooked meatballs in slow cooker with a tomato onion and garlic sauce adding extra garlic, onions and mushrooms. Was a huge hit and meatballs were nicest I've tried. Served with spaghetti. Another hit for the whole family :)
