Slow Cooker Caramelised Onions

Perfect for BBQs with hotdogs or burgers, eating with cheese as part of a Ploughmans, or just to scoff on their own with a spoon - these Slow Cooker Caramelised Onions do not disappoint!

Quite possibly the easiest recipe we have on the Slow Cooker Club, Slow Cooker Caramelised Onions have so many uses! Get them ready for a BBQ to eat with burgers and hot dogs, or save them for a special treat as part of a Ploughmans!

This recipe will make as much as onions that you can be bothered to chop, but also freezes well, so once cooked separate it into freezer bags in usable portions.

Ingredients

  • 5 large onions, chopped
  • 60ml olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Method

  1. Throw the chopped onions into the slow cooker along with the oil and salt, and stir well, ensuring that the onions are coated in the oil.
  2. Cook for up to 10 hours on low.
