Wake up to Slow Cooker Porridge - a brilliant way to feed your family with absolutely no effort. Once you've slow cooked Porridge, you'll never use the microwave again!

Porridge has always been a great way to feed the family for very little money. By spending five minutes prepping it the night before, you can simply get up, and eat a filling breakfast that'll keep you going until lunch!

This recipe can be easily tweaked to taste - serve with raisins, banana, honey, blueberries - whatever takes your fancy!

Ingredients

  • 250g porridge oats
  • 568ml (1 pint) milk
  • 1.4l water (2.5 pints)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Raisins to serve (optional)
  • Honey to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Wipe the inside of the slow cooker with a little oil to stop your porridge sticking whilst it cooks.
  2. Put everything in the slow cooker, give it a stir, then cook on low for 8 hours.
  3. Serve with raisins and a drizzle of honey if you want it sweetened!

    This is amazing! Make it and portion it for the week. 250g of oats does me five days.....love it! Easy and tasty. I found it a little too runny when I first turned off the slow cooker, but after cooling and reheating, it thickened up. Fantastic....another great reason to have a slow cooker.
